Pry Hill

                                                                                   
 Pry Hill is just beyond Burnhope Reservoir, at the junction between Cowshill and Wearhead.  For many years the home of the Lonsdale family, now the home of the gamekeeper.

Burnhope Lodge

Burnhope Lodge at the far end of the reservoir.  Once belonged to the Waterboard but now belongs to the owner of the shooting estate. Also rented out for private functions.

High House Farm

Another farm beside Burnhope Reservoir is High house Farm, in the centre behind Rigg House, then Far High House beyond, all derelict. Good views of the reservoir and Burnhope moors.

The Rigg,Burnhope

The Rigg is at the side of Burnhope Reservoir, it is a derelict building, the last man to live there was known as "Johnny at Rigg"

Slack House

Slack House is across the lane from the road, which then leads on to the moors.

Ireshope Plains & Green

Looking back from the Lanehill bank Ireshope Plains at the top and Greenlaws down the field.

High Ling Riggs

High Ling Riggs used to be called Wintergap, my grandma lived here when she was a child.  The road behind leads down to Irestone and forms part of the boundary between the parishes of Heatherycleugh and St.John's Chapel.

Cauld knuckles, as it is locally known, is on the hillside above Ireshopeburn, continuing along the Hawkwellhead road, on the top side of the road.  Now derelict.

High Hotts

Looking down the fields from the Hawkwellhead road, High Hotts Farm with NewHouse behind, to the right and Shortthorn Farm to the left.

Serendipity Hills

Still going along the Hawkwellhead Road, the last house before the woodland is Serendipity Hills.

Hawkwellhead Cottage

The next building along the Hawkwellhead Road is the now derelict Hawkwellhead Cottage with barns at each side.

Hawkwellhead Farm, used to be 2 houses, now 1 house.

High Rigg

High Rigg, the only building at the top side of the Hawkwellhead Road, used to be 2 houses and outbuildings, now 1 house.

High Rowntree

High Rowntree, the second farm across the Hawkwellhead Road.

Rowntree

Rowntree, the first farm along the Hawkwellhead road between St John's Chapel and Ireshopeburn. Recently converted it has been for sale for a few months.

Harthope Road St John's Chapel

The houses on Harthope Road, on the St John's Chapel to Teesdale Road. Harthope burn runs just in front of them, before travelling through the village and into the River Wear.
