The house next to the old Co-op in Westgate was the old Library from 1788 until 2002. The books were bought by a fund set up by villagers, and when it closed in 2002 the books were donated to the Weardale Museum in Ireshopeburn where they can now be viewed. Well worth a visit to see them.
