Further along the Burnhope Road is a lane leading to Bent Head. The Beevers family moved to the cottage on the left in the early 1930s when their father came to work on the building of the reservoir. 70% of the workforce were ex-servicemen. They moved from Shildon where they had all mod-cons to this remote house!! They must have liked the area, as Edna married a local lad and still lives in Wearhead. The other cottage was still used until the 1980s, but is now derelict aswell.
