Roll of Honour

Last year we discovered that Norman English, who lived in the village and was baptised in Heatherycleugh Church, did not have his name on the Church Roll of Honour. We think this omission occurred because there is an Edward Norman English on, and whoever wrote the Roll must have thought it was the same person. After several weeks of research to check all the details, we have now had a calligrapher add is name to the Roll. So, 65 years late, his name is rightfully there for all to see amongst all the other brave soldiers who fought for our country. This updates the Roll shown on my blog in January 2010, along with the WWI Roll. The ones with an mark to the left of their name did not return.

"They died so we could live and their spirit lives on"
