Remember 31st May post when I showed my hen sitting on 12 eggs, well now some have hatched!! She broke 1 the first week and continued to sit on the other 11 for the past 3 weeks. 8 have now hatched, 5 black and 3 white ( 1 white is only partly out of the shell in the centre of the photo but soon emerged). The 3 left may or may not hatch, it is 24 hours since the 1st one, so there is still time. I am really pleased with 8, last time I only got 6 out of 12 eggs. I was given a selection of eggs so will have to wait and see how they turn out!! The hen sat tight all day yesterday but left the nest for some food this morning.
