My family live just up the fields, at Wham and at the end of Irestone land in Wintergap the Emmersons and Elliotts in the late part of the 1800s and early 1900s. My grandparents were married from Wintergap in 1920. (Isabella Elliott and Ernest Scown)
I think if you go far enough back we will be related as my Pearts were from Rush and Emersons from Wellhope. My great grandfather who owned the quarry at Copt Hill was born in North Grain, ( yesterdays photograph ) and my great uncle farmed at Bents for many years.
My father lived in Irestone House as a child before moving out of the Dale in the 1930's.
